Grindavík
Grindavík is located in the southwest of Iceland, only 25 km from Keflavík Airport and 4 km from the famous Blue Lagoon health spa. Grindavik is a typical Icelandic fishing town with about 2300 inhabitants, wich mainly draw their livelyhood from the ocean. In Grindavík you will find Icelandic culture of the sea at its purest and the magnificent Blue Lagoon health spa for relaxation.
Our harbour is one of the busiest in the country and there is always a lot to see. You can also have a look in a fishfactory and see people at work and who knows, maybe you can buy fresh fish straight from the ocean. We take pride in offering our guests a selection of restaurants where you can have gourmet fishfood of the best quality.
The nature in this area is exceptional, seemingly endless lunarlike lava reminds us of the Moon but in the midst of it all you will see plains of green grass in beautiful valleys with several lakes in the Reykjanesfólkvangur area. The diversity of the landscape is great, here you will see everything from the tranquility of the valleys with beautiful lakes to the roughness of the lava where the cliffs meet the North Atlantic Ocean.
Grindavík and surroundings have a very lively bird population, especially in the cliffs of Krísuvík just east of the town. On the way to Krísuvík you will find many historical and interesting places to see.
