Welcome to Mosfellsbær, a friendly community where you can take a short-vut into wild Icelandic nature without even leaving the Greater Reykjavík Area.

Among the toxn´s many leisure attractions for people staying in Reykjavíkm particular favourites are horse riding, golf and hiking.

Mosfellsbær already draws thousands of visiors each year specifically to call at the Álafoss woollens factory outlet, and will be attracting thousands more from 2003 onwards when the house of writer and Nobel laureate Halldór Laxness opens to to the public to become a major Icelandic cultural shrine.

Marked paths with information signs have been set up all over Mosfellsbær to help those who want to combine some healthy outdoor activity with insights into the rich history of his community.

Most people who visit iceland pass through Mosfellsbær on theyrway either to the north and west or to the ancient parliament site of Þingvellir.
