Glymur (West Iceland)
Standing at about 196m/643ft, Glymur is regarded as the highest waterfall in Iceland. Located in Hvalfjordur, which is about a 50min drive from Reykjavik, this waterfall boasts beautiful scenery with surrounding volcanoes and tree plantations. There are two main paths that lead to Glymur, each taking about 90 minutes to reach the waterfall. As each hike may be strenuous in its own way, take precaution and come prepared. By the time you reach the top, all memories of rigorous climbing and hiking will be gone as you view one of Iceland’s most beautiful gems.
